HOUSTON (AP) – Rookie Shawn O’Malley had three hits, including a tiebreaking RBI single in a two-run eighth inning, and Logan Morrison padded the lead with a three-run shot in the ninth to help the Seattle Mariners to an 8-3 victory over the Houston Astros last night. O’Malley’s line drive to right field scored Logan Morrison to put Seattle on top 4-3.

LOS ANGELES (AP) – Clayton Kershaw struck out 15 to set a season career high with 251, Chase Utley hit a go-ahead homer in the sixth inning and the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the San Francisco Giants 2-1 last night for a series sweep that increased their NL West lead to 6 ½ games. The second-place Giants’ fifth straight loss left them facing their largest division deficit of the season.

UNDATED (AP) – The Seattle Sounders will host Toronto FC this weekend at CenturyLink Field. The Sounders are coming off a 2-1 victory over the Portland Timbers. Toronto is also coming off a victory against the Montreal Impact.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A woman who says she was raped while attending Oregon State University seeks $7.5 million in a federal lawsuit against the school and its former football coach, Mike Riley. Dennis Erickson coached the team that year, but his name does not appear in the suit. Riley was coach the year before, when a different woman said she was raped by four men, one of whom was the player whose cousin is named as the attacker in the lawsuit.
