HOUSTON (AP) – Dallas Keuchel allowed one run and struck out eight in seven innings to become the American League’s first 16-game winner and lead the Houston Astros to 8-3 win over the Seattle Mariners last night. Rookie Carlos Correa, who returned after missing four games with a hamstring injury, hit a two-run homer and Jed Lowrie and Hank Conger added solo shots to help the AL West-leading Astros to the victory.

LOS ANGELES (AP) – The Dodgers acquired minor league outfielder Justin Ruggiano and cash considerations from Seattle last night for a player to be named later. Ruggiano batted .296 with 10 home runs and 29 RBIs in 49 games with the Mariners’ Triple-A Tacoma affiliate this season.

HOUSTON (AP) – The playoff-hopeful Chicago Cubs have acquired outfielder Austin Jackson from the Seattle Mariners for a player to be named and an international draft slot Mariners interim general manager Jeff Kingston announced the deal last night. Because it was made before Sept. 1, Jackson will be eligible for the postseason if the Cubs get that far.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) – The Carolina Panthers have acquired wide receiver Kevin Norwood in a trade with the Seattle Seahawks in exchange for an undisclosed 2017 draft choice. Carolina has been searching for answers at wide receiver ever since Kelvin Benjamin went down with a season-ending injury. The 6-foot-2, 200-pound Norwood was a fourth-round draft choice by the Seahawks in 2014. He played nine games with two starts as a rookie, catching nine passes for 102 yards.
