Bats lively in 12-5 win

The Eugene Emeralds powered their way back into a tie for first place in the southern division last night using 14 hits for a 12-5 win over the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes.

Alex Bautista led the way, going three-for-four at the plate; Eloy Jimenez hit a two-run homer in the fifth.

Eugene, with a 13-9 record in the second half of the season, is tied with Hillsboro for the lead. There are just over two weeks remaining in the season.

The Emeralds are in Keizer again tonight and tomorrow; They’ll be back at PK Park Sunday for the first game of a five-game series against Spokane.

Viking Football tickets go on sale

Season tickets for Siuslaw Viking football go on sale 8 AM Monday at Siuslaw High School. The passes are $25 and will give you entry into all four home games this season. Athletic Director Jeromy Graybill says ticket holders from last year have the opportunity to purchase tickets, but they’ll need to do that early.

The Vikings open with the Blue and Gold scrimmage next Friday. Their first game is September 4th in Newport, then they host Pleasant Hill a week later.
