Here is the latest Washington, Oregon and Alaska sports news from The Associated Press

UNDATED (AP) – Two teams with more in common than one might think meet in their second preseason game when Seattle visits Kansas City. Both teams have dynamic defenses, though both could be missing key players. All-Pro cornerback Richard Sherman is unlikely to play for Seattle. All-Pro safety Earl Thomas will not. Fellow safety Kam Chancellor’s holdout hit Week 3 yesterday. Meanwhile, Kansas City will be without Pro Bowl defensive tackle Dontari Poe, who had back surgery over the summer and is out for all of training camp.

BOISE, Idaho (AP) – A Boise State basketball player facing a felony charge in a drive-by shooting has been dismissed from the team. Coach Leon Rice dismissed Dezmyn Trent yesterday. Trent, a 6-foot-4 guard, played in 31 games in his two seasons at Boise State, averaging 2.9 points and 1.8 rebounds.

UNDATED (AP) – The Seattle Mariners host the Chicago White Sox tonight at Safeco Field. The Mariners are coming off a 7-2 loss against the Texas Rangers.

PITTSBURGH (AP) – Charlie Morton combined with two relievers on a six-hitter and Neil Walker hit a two-run home run to lead the Pittsburgh Pirates over the San Francisco Giants 4-0 last night. Morton (8-4) scattered four hits over 6 2/3 innings while striking out eight and walking two. He was pulled in the seventh inning with a four-run lead after the Giants loaded the bases with two outs.
