ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) – Derek Holland won in his return from the disabled list, and Texas hit back-to-back-to-back home runs in the seventh inning as the Texas Rangers beat the Seattle Mariners 7-2 yesterday afternoon. Holland (1-1) scattered eight hits, struck out six and walked none over 6 1-3 innings.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Ellen Yang had an RBI single to kick off a four-run first inning and Rowan, North Carolina, beat Warwick North, Rhode Island, 4-2 last night in the championship game of the Little League Softball World Series. Kali Morton allowed two runs on four hits over six innings for the Rowan team, representing the Southeast in the annual event. She struck out three.

SEATTLE (AP) – Midfielder Marco Pappa has been cleared to rejoin the Seattle Sounders after complying with Major League Soccer’s Substance Abuse and Behavioral Health Program following his arrest for investigation of driving under the influence. General manager Garth Lagerway says in a statement that Pappa has completed the steps necessary to reach this point and the organization will continue to support him. Lagerway said there would be no further comment due to the ongoing legal proceedings.

SEATTLE (AP) – Brad Evans converted a penalty kick 6 1/2 minutes into second-half stoppage time to give the Seattle Sounders a 2-1 comeback victory over Olimpia of Honduras in a CONCACAF Champions League game last night. The penalty kick was awarded when Sounders defender Dylan Remick was taken down just inside the penalty area by Arnold Peralta.
