ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) – Fernando Rodney walked Adrian Beltre with one out in the ninth inning to force in winning run and give Texas a 4-3 win over the Seattle Mariners for the Rangers’ fifth straight win. The Rangers have won eight consecutive home games and are three games over .500 for the first time since June 23.

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) – The Seattle Mariners have recalled left-hander Edgar Olmos from Triple-A Tacoma and optioned left-hander Rob Rasmussen to the minors. Olmos, 25, was 1-1 with a 3.55 ERA in 20 appearances with Tacoma, including two starts. His only previous experience in the majors is five relief appearances for Miami in 2013.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – The National Women’s Soccer League will hold its championship match at Providence Park in Portland, Oregon. In the league’s first two seasons, the championship match was hosted by the higher-seeded team. Commissioner Jeff Plush says the league’s owners decided before the season to move the championship to a predetermined location. The Oct. 1 championship will be televised by FOX Sports 1.

SEATTLE (AP) – Washington offensive lineman Dexter Charles has retired due to a lingering knee injury, a significant blow to an already thin offensive line. Charles was a fifth-year senior and was expected to be the Huskies’ starting left guard heading into the season. Charles had started 30 games over the past three seasons.
