CRATER LAKE, Ore. (AP) – Park officials say they’re closing the north entrance to Crater Lake National Park so firefighters can prepare lines and do other work on a blaze burning in the park’s northwest corner. It’s unclear when it will reopen. The south entrance, accessed from Route 62, remains open.

BEND, Ore. (AP) – The Deschutes County District Attorney is ordering the Sisters Park and Recreation District to release public records relating to unspecified allegations made about the district’s lacrosse program. The district had said the records were exempt from public disclosure because they pertained to personnel and potential litigation. The district attorney’s order says the exemptions don’t apply.

REDMOND, Ore. (AP) – Redmond Police say a citizen held a motorist at gunpoint until police arrived after the driver allegedly tried to run away from the scene of a crash. A Redmond Police spokesman says the man crashed his truck into a parked car late Saturday, rolled the vehicle and damaged three other vehicles. The Bend Bulletin reports that officers learned that a citizen, who was not identified, held the driver at gunpoint after the driver tried to run away.

UNION CREEK, Ore. (AP) – A 4-year-old Grants Pass boy has died after his family’s raft capsized on a rocky stretch of the Rogue River. The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office says that Brayden Biggs died when the raft carrying him and five others capsized when it entered the Takelma Gorge, a stretch with swift rapids. Kayakers found the boy unresponsive about 200 yards downstream. The Jackson County medical examiner’s office will determine the exact cause of the boy’s death.
