Here is the latest Oregon news from The Associated Press

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. (AP) – Wildfires near Crater Lake National Park have closed part of Highway 230 and visitors at Diamond Lake are on evacuation alert. KFLS reports that Highway 230 is closed on a 12-mile stretch between Highway 138 and Hamaker Meadows Road.

GRANTS PASS, Ore. (AP) – Fishing restrictions intended to protect salmon, steelhead and trout from lethally warm water conditions have been lifted for the lower and middle sections of the Rogue River. The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife says that cooler weather and the release of extra water from Lost Creek Dam to help fall chinook migrate upriver to spawn have returned river conditions to normal for August.

SALEM, Ore. (AP) – The State Land Board has approved selling the Elliott State Forest to a buyer who will agree to some restrictive conditions: they must pay a fair market price, conserve older trees, protect threatened fish and wildlife, produce logs for local mills, and leave it open to the public. The forest located in the Coast Range north of Coos Bay has been running $1 million a year in the red because timber sales have been overturned for failing to protect fish and wildlife habitat.

WINCHESTER BAY, Ore. (AP) – Coast Guard crews have found a boat with two children and two adults onboard after it went missing off Winchester Bay in Oregon. A spokeswoman says Tennessee residents Jim Jackson, Michael Jackson and two children, 10 and 14, were found by a Coast Guard helicopter a day after the boat was due. She says the four are tired and thirsty, but otherwise OK.
