SEATTLE (AP) – Pitcher Hisashi Iwakuma (hee-sash-ee ee-wah-koo-mah) will open a three-game series at home against Texas today. Iwakuma tossed 8 2-3 innings of one-run ball against Minnesota on Sunday. The Colorado Rockies rallied to beat the Seattle Mariners 7-5 on Wednesday.

RENTON, Wash. (AP) – Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Doug Baldwin says he didn’t know Percy Harvin felt threatened by the Seahawks’ receivers during his time in Seattle. Baldwin says he believes any lingering beef between himself and Harvin had been “squashed” before Harvin was traded from Seattle to the New York Jets in the middle of last season.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – The Portland Timbers have acquired forward Michael Seaton from D.C. United for targeted allocation money and an international roster spot. The 19-year-old native of Jamaica also has U.S. citizenship. He originally signed with D.C. United in 2013. He spent much of his time there on loan to the USL’s Richmond Kickers and a Swedish team.

SITKA, Alaska (AP) – Football season is over for Alaska’s Sitka High School, despite not a single game being played this year. The Daily Sitka Sentinel reports school officials announced that low turnout and safety concerns about the ability to get a complete roster forced the program to cancel the season. There were only 14 players on this year’s roster.
