PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Oregon State Police questioned and released a man believed to be responsible for suspicious letters sent to two dozen sheriff’s offices this week. Police say 34-year-old Lance Storm did not appear violent or dangerous and is not believed to be a threat to the community. Investigators say Storm was forthcoming and eager to discuss the letters. He told police he did not mean to cause alarm.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A 27-year-old man who forced two California tourists to strip naked during a robbery on a Portland bridge has been sentenced to more than 19 years in prison. The judge told James Wooten that he could have “moved on” after robbing the tourists last October. Instead, authorities said, Wooten assaulted two men on the Burnside Bridge and took their clothes.

BEND, Ore. (AP) – The city of Bend will consider whether to pay more for the damage caused to residents’ homes by flooding from a broken water main. The Bend Bulletin reports council members and the city’s insurer initially agreed to pay for removing water as well as sanitizing and drying homes along the flooded street.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – An Oregon man who faked works by well-known artists and sold knockoffs to a West Coast gallery owner has pleaded guilty to mail fraud. Larry Ulvi told a federal judge he did it for fun – not money – and now he’s paying the price. Authorities seized about 160 fakes at Ulvi’s Portland apartment.
