A Department of Forestry spokesman says the board formed a subcommittee to make recommendations that will be considered sometime this fall.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – An Oregon man has admitted taking his girlfriend’s toddler across state lines for sexual abuse. Prosecutors and a defense attorney jointly recommend 25 years in prison for 36-year-old James Hickerson of Gresham. A judge set sentencing for Nov. 9.

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. (AP) – Springfield Police officials say a Thurston High School English teacher is under investigation for allegedly sending nude photographs of herself to a male student. The Register-Guard reports no charges have been filed against the teacher and she has not been arrested. A police spokesman says authorities have not identified the teacher and did not release other details about the investigation.

HERMISTON, Ore. (AP) – Health officials say West Nile virus has been found in Umatilla County for the first time this year. The West Umatilla Mosquito Control District says mosquitoes trapped in Hermiston tested positive for the virus.
