PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – U.S. authorities are seeking to revoke the citizenship of an Oregon imam who they say tried to conceal past associations with radical Islamic groups. In a petition filed in federal court in Portland, the U.S. Department of Justice says Mohamed Sheikh Abdirahman Kariye raised money, recruited fighters and provided training for insurgent groups battling Soviet forces in Afghanistan in the 1980s.

SALEM, Ore. (AP) – The state technology manager who leaked former Gov. John Kitzhaber’s personal emails has notified the state that he plans to sue. An attorney for Michael Rodgers says the state subjected Rodgers to “investigations without proper notice and an opportunity for a hearing.” The attorney tells the Oregonian that a lawsuit has not yet been filed. Rodgers has acknowledged leaking 6,000 emails, saying he feared they contained public records that would be deleted.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – An Oregon resident who transitioned to a woman more than three decades ago continued collecting Social Security disability checks under her male identity, fraudulently raking in $250,000. Court records show Richelle McDonald was born Richard McDonald in 1945. In 1974, Richard claimed disability because he was unable to work after suffering a serious arm injury when hit by a San Francisco bus.

ALOHA, Ore. (AP) – An Oregon toddler was in critical condition after falling from a third-story window, landing on his father. Washington County Sheriff’s Office says the child’s mother was giving her two sons a bath Sunday evening in the community of Aloha, when the 2-year-old boy tried to get a look through the window at his father.

NEWBERG, Ore. (AP) – The top city administrator in Newberg is on paid leave after the Yamhill County district attorney requested a criminal investigation into her decision to put the police chief on leave. The Newberg City Council voted today to remove City Manager Jacque (JACK’ee) Betz from her job during the investigation. Betz could not be reached for comment.
