PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Police in Portland say a group of children found an old military explosive in a wildlife refuge, then decided to carry it to a southeast Portland home. The Oregonian reports that police called to the home yesterday found the explosive that had been picked up in the Oaks Bottom Wildlife Refuge. Experts say the item was old but could still be potentially dangerous. Officers say don’t touch or disturb such items if you find them – just call 911.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Police in Portland say a 19-year-old man wounded in a weekend shooting in east Portland has died and his death is now a homicide investigation. Sgt. Pete Simpson said yesterday that Anthony Jackson Jr. died at a Portland-area hospital. He was shot Sunday at an apartment complex. Jackson’s death is Portland’s 20th homicide so far this year.

CHILOQUIN, Ore. (AP) – Klamath County deputies are looking for those behind an estimated $17,000 in damage throughout the town of Chiloquin. The Herald and News of Klamath Falls reports that surveillance video shows two people destroying property in a gift shop early Monday. A cafe and a market were also affected by the crime spree.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – A general surgeon in North Dakota is accused of sexually abusing a girl under 14 in Oregon over a two-year period starting in 2009. The Daily Astorian reports that 46-year-old Robert Gustafson has pleaded not guilty in Oregon’s Clatsop County to 12 counts related to the alleged abuse.
