VANCOUVER, Wash. (AP) – The Clackamas County sheriff’s office says an arrest warrant has been issued for a man sought in the June 20 fatal stabbing of a man in Milwaukie. The warrant names a man currently in custody at the Clark County, Washington, Jail on an unrelated matter. The sheriff’s office says Daniel Gillispie of Oregon City is sought in the death of Alexander Mosbey. The two men are described as acquaintances.

HILLSBORO, Ore. (AP) – A 52-year-old St. Helens man has been sentenced to life in prison for killing a teenage girl in 1982. Detectives identified Kenneth Hicks as a potential suspect soon after the Aloha girl’s death, but lacked sufficient evidence to arrest him. DNA evidence helped solve the case three decades later.

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – Eugene police have identified one of two people have found dead after shots were fired and a house burned down. The Register-Guard reports that authorities yesterday said 52-year-old Heidi Rice was one of the victims found Saturday. Police say the other person was a man who has relatives who have not yet been notified of his death.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Oregon health officials are warning people to take caution when eating soft shell clams after siphons, or the “neck” of the clam, have been found in tests to carry high levels of arsenic. The Oregonian reports that officials say only people who dig their own clams are at risk since the species in which the naturally occurring arsenic has been detected, Mya arenaria, are not sold in markets or restaurants.
