SALEM, Ore. (AP) – Oregon lawmakers have adjourned the 2015 legislative session. In the final hours, lawmakers approved $1.2 billion in construction projects. They also kept alive several tax credits that were due to expire. They approved funding for the Department of Veterans Affairs to hire someone to help gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender service members upgrade their discharge status.

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – The four boys accused of starting a massive fire that destroyed Eugene’s historic Civic Stadium now face additional charges. The Register-Guard of Eugene reports the boys are now charged with first-degree arson. Two of the boys are 12 years old and the third is 10. The boys are expected to return to court Sept. 1.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – The estate of a 43-year-old woman who was fatally injured when she was hit by a school bus as she crossed the street with her husband has filed an $8.7 million lawsuit against the driver and bus company The Oregonian reports that Shawn Bates suffered only minor injuries but died about four months later from cancer, leaving their now 12-year-old son as an orphan.

SALEM, Ore. (AP) – The pilot killed in a single-fatality light plane crash at a Salem, Oregon, airport has been identified as a 60-year-old Salem businessman. Police identified the victim in Saturday’s crash at McNary Field as John Douglas Layton. Authorities say he was alone in the plane when it crashed north of the runway and burst into flames.
