NEW YORK (AP) – Nike Chairman and co-founder Phil Knight has announced that he plans to step down, and is suggesting that he be succeeded by President and CEO Mark Parker. Knight is 77 and has been a director of the company since 1968. The company also named his son Travis to a spot on the board yesterday.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A southeast Portland man has been found guilty of fatally shooting his younger brother in the neck during an argument on Christmas Eve 2013. The Oregonian reports that 64-year-old Mickey Rolin was found guilty yesterday of the murder of 61-year-old Terry Rolin. Mickey Rolin is scheduled to be sentenced next week.

PITTSBURGH (AP) – A 50-year-old Bend man is one of 18 people to be honored with a Carnegie Medal for heroism. Craig Randleman and another man rescued an 8-year-old boy from attacking pit bulls in Spokane in April 2014. A Spokane couple then rescued Randleman. The Carnegie Hero Fund Commission awards medals and cash several times a year.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Portland fire officials will announce today whether they will impose a burn ban that could include fireworks through the July 4 weekend. The Oregonian reports that firefighters are concerned about the hot, dry weather. State law prohibits cities and counties from directly banning fireworks. A burn ban in the Sandy Fire District goes into effect July 1.
