SEATTLE (AP) – Mike Moustakas hit a two-run home run and Omar Infante had a three-run double in a seven-run fourth inning and the Kansas City Royals beat the Seattle Mariners 8-2 last night. Alcides Escobar opened the fourth with a single to right off Roenis Elias (4-5), who had retired the first nine batters. Moustakas followed with his seventh homer over the right-field wall. The Royals would score five more, all with two outs. Infante unloaded the bases with his double to left, then Jarrod Dyson and Escobar each followed with left-field RBI doubles.

SEATTLE (AP) – The Seattle Mariners have called up outfielder Franklin Gutierrez from Triple-A Tacoma, nearly two years after he last played in a major league game. Seattle optioned James Jones to Tacoma. Gutierrez last played in the majors in September 2013 and did not play all of last season.

CHESTER, Pa. (AP) – C.J. Sapong scored his fifth goal in six games and the Philadelphia Union beat the Seattle Sounders 1-0 last night. Philadelphia (5-10-3) snapped a two-game losing streak and Seattle (9-6-2) lost its second straight. Sapong headed in Sheanon Williams’ perfectly chipped cross in the 69th minute.

CARSON, Calif. (AP) – Robbie Keane scored on a penalty kick and added two assists, and Los Angeles scored five goals for the second straight match as the Galaxy routed the Portland Timbers 5-0 last night. The victory broke a tie between the teams for third place in the Western Conference.
