OSAA Track and Field Finals

The OSAA Track and Field finals continue today and tomorrow at Historic Hayward Field in Eugene.

In yesterday’s competition, Mapleton’s Jacob Pruett finished seventh in the boys 1A shot put. Hunter Simington tied for seventh in the pole vault. Tyler Packebush failed to advance to finals in pole vault and the 110-meter hurdles.

Pruett will compete today in the discus and javelin, Chris Free will be in the triple-jump and Hannah Rodet will be in the girls’ pole vault.

15 Siuslaw athletes began competition today at the 4A portion of the meet. Viking track and field coach Chris Johnson says it’s a tremendous opportunity to compete at one of the world’s top track and field facilities.

Chris Johnson – “Oh man. Yeah. You know, you figure the Olympic Trials are there and the World Championships which have never ever been contested on American soil are coming to Hayward Field, so we’re… yes… our kids are just blessed to be able to go there.”

Pac-12 Baseball wraps up this weekend

The final weekend of Pac-12 baseball gets underway today in Eugene and Corvallis. Oregon is hosting number three ranked UCLA for three games at PK Park.

Number 20 Oregon State is hosting Cal. This evening’s game begins at seven and will air on KCFM. The other two Beaver games this weekend will also be on KCFM… tomorrow at four and then Sunday at three.

College Softball Super Regional

Number two seed Oregon will host North Carolina State in a best-of-three super regional softball series at Howe Field in Eugene beginning today. The winner will advance to the college Softball World Series. Game two of the series is tomorrow at noon… game three if needed, will be at three.
