Mapleton and Siuslaw athletes headed for state meet

Five Mapleton Sailor athletes will begin competition today in Eugene at the State 1A Track and Field finals. The quintet will be competing in eight different events in all. Jacob Pruett will throw the discus, the javelin and the shot put. Tyler Packebush will compete in the 110-meter hurdles and the pole vault. Hannah Rodet will also be in competition in the pole vault, along with Hunter Simington. Chris Free will compete in the triple jump.

4A competition begins on day two

There will be 15 Siuslaw Vikings competing in 15 different events when the 4A competition begins at Hayward Field tomorrow. Carissa Oliver will throw the discus and the shot put, Joseph Dotson is in the 400 meters and the 300 intermediate hurdles. Destine Tatum and Kennedy Pendergrass will run in the girls 400 and Celie Mans will run in the 15-hundred and the three-thousand. Mikaela Siegel will run the 100 meter hurdles and compete in the long jump. Billy Jones will be in the boys long jump; Trent Reavis is in the shot put and Seth Campbell is in the 800. Tyler Williams will join Dotson, Jones and Campbell in the 4-by-400 relay for the boys. The Viking girls will have two relay entries… Abby Watkins, Elyssa Rose, Hannaleah Jakobsen and Stevie Miller in the 4-by-100; and Pendergrass, Siegel, Tatum and Magdalena Akeson in the 4-by-400.
