GRANTS PASS, Ore. (AP) – A Grants Pass woman was killed in a car crash hours after accepting her boyfriend’s wedding proposal at Whaleshead Beach. The Grants Pass Daily Courier reports that 28-year-old Melissa Hudson died Sunday and her new fiance Jake Zeliff was seriously injured when their vehicle veered into the left hand turn lane and collided head-on with an oncoming car in Gasquet, California.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – The cost of a trip to Crater Lake National Park is going up. The Oregonian reports the entrance fee will increase from $10 to $15 per vehicle tomorrow. The cost to walk, bike or ride a motorcycle into the park will rise to $10, a $5 increase. Additional increases are scheduled in 2017 and 2018.

BANDON, Ore (AP) – The United States Golf Association has chosen Bandon Dunes to be the site of the 2020 U.S. Amateur tournament. The event will be held in August of 2020 and use two of the four courses at the revered golf resort on the south Oregon Coast. It will be the sixth USGA championship held at Bandon Dunes, including a women’s tournament this week.

CHICAGO (AP) – Chicago’s Lincoln Park Zoo is welcoming two new female lions from the Oregon Zoo in Portland. In a news release, zoo officials said the lions are sisters named Zalika (za-leek-ah) and Kamali (kah-mal-ee). Both lions are 1 ½ years old and weigh about 160 pounds. They join Lincoln Park Zoo’s 5-year-old male lion, Sahar.
