SEATTLE (AP) — Nelson Cruz hit his major league-leading 15th home run, Mike Zunino connected twice, and the Seattle Mariners hit a season-high six long balls in an 11-4 rout of the San Diego Padres last night. Cruz’s drive came in the eighth inning off San Diego reliever Frank Garces, who had already given up homers to Zunino and Justin Ruggiano an inning earlier. Seattle starter James Paxton (1-2) threw six shutout innings for his first victory, as the Mariners won their fourth straight.

SEATTLE (AP) — Seattle Mariners starter Hisashi Iwakuma will be shut down for up to two weeks in his recovery from a right latissimus muscle injury after experiencing tightness during a throwing session. Seattle’s manager says Iwakuma would be kept from throwing for 10 to 14 days depending on how he is feeling.

SEATTLE (AP) — Former WNBA MVP Lauren Jackson will miss the 2015 season with the Seattle Storm after undergoing knee surgery. It will be the third straight season that Jackson doesn’t play a game for the Storm. Seattle has also spent the past four seasons without Jackson full-time. Once the most dominant player in the league, Jackson has not played more than 13 games for Seattle since 2010.

RENTON, Wash. (AP) — The Seattle Seahawks have signed linebacker Tyrell Adams and fullback Brandon Cottom following rookie minicamp last weekend. To clear roster spots, the Seahawks terminated the veteran contract of offensive lineman C.J. Davis and waived offensive guard Nate Isles. Davis was not on an NFL roster last season, while Isles spent the year on Seattle’s practice squad.
