ALBANY, Ore. (AP) – As body cameras become more prevalent in police forces and sheriff’s offices, the extra evidence is disrupting workflow for the Linn County Circuit Court system. The Albany Democrat-Herald reports the DA’s office says it had 45 gigabytes of media downloads in 2011. By 2014, that figure grew to 601 gigabytes of downloaded evidence, and for the first three months of 2015, it’s already at 351 gigabytes, most of which is body camera footage.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Spirit Lake just north of Mount St. Helens is at risk of overflowing after engineers found the lake’s drainage tunnel is shrinking. KGW-TV reports that the Army Corps of Engineers said the tunnel had an opening of 8 feet, 6 inches in October 2013. Last month the uplift reduced the opening to 6 feet, 8 inches.

SALEM, Ore. (AP) – The Salem police dog shot during a standoff with a suspect last month is back on the job. KPTV and the Statesman Journal report that Baco (bah’-ko) returned to work Thursday. Lt. Steve Birr says Baco had one suture left in his cheek but is otherwise fine. Baco was shot in the side of the face by Mark Hawkins, a wanted man eventually killed by officers at end of a seven-hour standoff in a Walmart parking lot.

NEW YORK (AP) – The American Music Program of Portland has won Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Essentially Ellington high school jazz band competition after an emotional performance honoring its ailing director. JALC’s Artistic Director Wynton Marsalis presented the band with the first-place trophy and a $5,000 award At Saturday night’s finals concert in New York.
