SEATTLE (AP) – Speedy Washington wide receiver/defensive back John Ross III will miss the season after suffering a leg injury during spring practice. The school did not specify the nature of Ross’ injury.

SEATTLE (AP) – The Seattle Mariners will host the Oakland Athletics tonight in Safeco Field. The Mariners are coming off a 4-3 loss to Los Angeles Angels. The Athletics are coming off a 5-6 loss to the Minnesota Twins.

SEATTLE (AP) – Plans for a proposed multipurpose arena in Seattle’s stadium district can move forward after a final environmental impact statement found no major issues to block the project. The FEIS on investor Chris Hansen’s plans for an arena near Safeco Field and CenturyLink Field was released by the city yesterday. The project still needs approval of a street being vacated and has faced opposition from the Port of Seattle and the Mariners regarding the location.

PARK CITY, Utah (AP) – The U.S. Ski Team has brought on board Paul Kristofic as the women’s head coach after he spent two decades with Alpine Canada. It was a position that was left vacant last season once Alex Hoedlmoser moved over to oversee the men’s speed team. Kristofic starts June 1.
