SALEM, Ore. (AP) – Oregon is one of only two states where motorists aren’t allowed to pump their own gas. The other is New Jersey. Now, Oregon’s Legislature appears ready to at least let people driving through rural Oregon pump their own fuel. Under a bill that’s already passed the House, gas stations could offer self-service fuel during hours when there isn’t an owner, operator or employee around.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Two men were hospitalized after one drove his car through an insurance agency’s front window in southeast Portland. KPTV-TV reports that surveillance video shows a small car accelerating as it goes through the company’s front window yesterday afternoon. The company’s owner says the driver told him he fell asleep at the wheel. Both men were slightly injured.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A Portland jury unanimously acquitted a 55-year-old man of aggravated murder, a crime that occurred 35 years ago. The Oregonian reports that the court yesterday ordered Antonio Wabol released from Multnomah County jail, hours after the jury reached their verdict and more than 3 years after he was charged with the 1980 killing.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – President Barack Obama’s two-day trip to Oregon will highlight trade. The president arrives this afternoon and is scheduled to hold a fundraiser in Portland for the Democratic National Committee. Tomorrow, he’ll promote free trade at Nike headquarters outside Beaverton.
