ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) – Johnny Giavotella hit an RBI double in the ninth inning and Mike Trout homered, leading the Los Angeles Angels to a 4-3 victory over Seattle last night and their second walk-off win in a row over the Mariners. Huston Street (2-0) was credited with the win after his first blown save in 10 opportunities this season. He gave up a sacrifice fly by pinch-hitter Dustin Ackley in the top of the ninth.

SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) – Former Washington starting point guard Nigel Williams-Goss will transfer to Gonzaga and be eligible for the 2016-17 season when the series between the Huskies and Bulldogs is scheduled to resume. Gonzaga announced that Williams-Goss will enroll this summer and have two years of eligibility remaining. Williams-Goss was a second-team all-Pac-12 selection last season.

CALGARY, Alberta (AP) – Portland Winterhawks forward Oliver Bjorkstrand was honored yesterday as the Western Hockey League’s player of the year. Bjorkstrand, from Denmark, led the major junior league with 63 goals, 118 points and a plus-60 rating over 58 regular-season games. The 6-foot, 168-pound forward was selected in the third round, 89th overall, by the Columbus Blue Jackets in 2013.

BEND, Ore. (AP) – A sparse snowpack is closing an Oregon ski area 15 days early this month. The Bulletin reports the Mt. Bachelor ski area won’t make it to its Memorial Day close date after receiving about half of its normal snowfall this season. Officials say while this wasn’t a dry year, this is the earliest the mountain has closed since 1976-1977 when the resort was closed by April 30.
