Here is the latest Oregon news from The Associated Press

UNDATED (AP) – President Barack Obama’s trip to Oregon today and tomorrow will highlight trade, an issue that has divided the Democrats in Oregon’s congressional delegation. Obama wants Congress to approve so-called “fast track” trade authority, giving him leeway to negotiate an Asia-Pacific trade deal that would be subject only to an up-or-down vote, without amendments.

OREGON CITY, Ore. (AP) – An Oregon City baby sitter has now been charged with murder in last month’s death of a 7-month-old boy. Oregon City police say a Clackamas County grand jury indicted 37-year-old Sarah Martin on Tuesday. She had initially been charged with first-degree manslaughter. Martin is being held without bail. Her arraignment is set for today.

SALEM, Ore. (AP) – A prosecutor isn’t filing criminal charges “at this time” against an Oregon science teacher accused of using a Tesla coil to burn the phrase “I love mom” into students’ arms. Samuel Dufner was arrested at South Salem High School. Salem police say students used the coil in an exercise last week. Dufner noted it could also be used to mark the skin and asked for volunteers. The marks have since faded.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – About 60 firefighters worked through the night to contain a 100-acre wildfire north of Glendale. Kyle Reed of the Douglas Forest Protective Association says the Peavine Creek fire was discovered Tuesday afternoon. He says firefighters will finish making a trail around the fire and then begin the mop-up phase. Investigators are still trying to determine what started the blaze.
