Vikings perform at Grants Pass Rotary Invitational

Mikaela Siegel was second in the long jump and finished third in the 100 meter hurdles in the Varsity class at Saturday’s Grants Pass Rotary Invitational. The Siuslaw girls had great success in the Frosh-Soph events with Carissa Oliver winning the discus; Celie Mans the 3-thousand, and Destinie Tatum the 400 meter.

Kaylee Graham had a good day.  The Viking freshman ran a personal best of 51.79 seconds in the F/S class of the 300 meter hurdles to finish in 3rd.  Graham was fourth in the 100 meter hurdles (F/S).   She also “put the team ahead of herself” according to coach Chris Johnson.  After a teammate was injured, Graham was thrust onto two relay teams, running one leg of the 4-by-100 relay for the first time ever.  She ran one leg of the 4-by-400 relay team which Siuslaw won.

For the boys, Seth Campbell won the varsity class 15-hundred; Joe Dotson was third in the varsity 300 Intermediate Hurdles in 40.81 seconds; Billy Jones was third in the Varsity Long Jump.

Trent Reavis came second in the Frosh-Soph class of the discus with a personal best throw of 123′ 11″.  He was also fourth in the javelin.

In Reedsport, Mapleton’s Chris Free won the Triple Jump and finished third in the long jump at the Jack Blum Invitational.

On the diamond… The Viking Softball nine led 5-nothing midway through game one of a Far West double header against South Umpqua at home, but the Lancers tied it in the fifth and took the lead in the sixth to hold on for a 6-5 win. In the nightcap, the Lady Vikings once again jumped to an early lead, scoring four runs in the first inning. But, that was all the offense they had, falling 5-4.
