MCMINNVILLE, Ore. (AP) – A former parishioner of a McMinnville church who reported his pastor to labor officials for not paying students in a church landscaping business is now suing the pastor for defamation. The News-Register reports James Goings is suing Abundant Life Pentecostal pastor William Davies and his son Matthew Davies for $950,000. Goings previously complained to the Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industries that Davies didn’t pay overtime or failed to pay at all for landscaping work done by his Christian Academy students. Eight teens filed wage and hour complaints. The state ordered the Davises to pay a total of $4,464 to the students.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Portland firefighters pulled a man, clinging to the Morrison Bridge, from the Willamette River yesterday morning. The Oregonian reports firefighters in trucks and boats responded about 2 a.m. after receiving a report of a man in the water. The Portland Fire Bureau say two men on a small boat pulled him out of the water and got him to a rescue boat. Fire officials say the man, who is in his 20s, was taken to a hospital as a precaution but he did not appear to be injured. It’s unclear how he ended up in the water.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A man who died after a 150-foot fall from popular Portland, Ore., viewpoint has been identified. The Multnomah County medical examiner’s office say 30-year-old Jacob Bradley of Gresham died Friday afternoon after a firefighter was lowered down the cliff to help him. The Portland Fire Bureau told The Oregonian Bradley had been looking off a viewpoint with his friends before he fell.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Two lost hikers were found Saturday night near Multnomah Falls after texting searchers a photo of their location. The Oregonian reports the pair was found just before midnight. The Multnomah County Sheriff’s office says they were not hurt. The hikers had set out from Oneonta Falls about 2:30 p.m., hiking what they believed to be the Larch Mountain Trail. On their way back, they became lost, and when the sun went down, they called for help.
