Here is the latest Washington, Oregon and Alaska sports news from The Associated Press

HOUSTON (AP) – Jose Altuve’s RBI single in the 10th inning lifted the Houston Astros to their seventh straight victory, 3-2 over the Seattle Mariners last night. The Mariners took a 2-0 lead in the first inning on Nelson Cruz’s double-play grounder with the bases loaded, and Kyle Seager’s RBI single. Evan Gattis had a run-scoring grounder in the bottom of the inning, and then had another in the sixth to tie the score.

SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) – The San Francisco 49ers have selected Oregon defensive lineman Arik Armstead with the No. 17 pick in the NFL draft. San Francisco’s general manager traded the 15th selection to San Diego to move down two spots. With Ray McDonald gone and Justin Smith uncertain to return, Baalke added a big body – 6-foot-7, 292 pounds – with a quick first burst off the line.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – The Tennessee Titans have selected Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota with the No. 2 draft pick overall, the third QB the franchise has taken in the past decade. The Titans started three different quarterbacks last season benching Jake Locker in October for rookie Zach Mettenberger. But he lost his six starts, and the Titans couldn’t afford to pass up Mariota with Charlie Whitehurst the only other quarterback on the roster.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) – The Carolina Panthers have selected versatile linebacker Shaq Thompson from Washington with the No. 25 overall pick in the NFL draft. The 6-foot, 228-pound Thompson was the winner of the Paul Hornung Award, given to the nation’s most versatile player.
