PRINEVILLE, Ore. (AP) – Oregon State Police say troopers used nonlethal force to subdue a suspected drunken driver who fled from authorities in Central Oregon. The vehicle came to a stop in Prineville and was subdued by authorities after a brief standoff.

GRANTS PASS, Ore. (AP) – State police are investigating a shooting in southwestern Oregon that left one man dead and another injured. Both are from Utah. Oregon State Police say early indications suggest the Saturday morning shooting followed an argument over the ownership of a truck.

THE DALLES, Ore. (AP) – A woman who was molested by an anesthesiologist while under sedation has been awarded $950,000 in compensatory and punitive damages in her case against a hospital in The Dalles. The Dalles Chronicle reports a jury awarded the damages after ruling the Mid-Columbia Medical Center was negligent. The woman, a former hospital employee, is one of a dozen women who have sued the hospital. The hospital said in a statement it’s disappointed in the verdict.

SEASIDE, Ore. (AP) – Some hotels on the Oregon coast are resisting a new tsunami awareness initiative. Seaside’s Fire Division Chief said the city has given hotels optional key holders that contain warnings of a potential tsunami and evacuation instructions. The manager of the Hi-Tide Resort said being greeted up front with a tsunami warning while on vacation can be unnerving. Her hotel has used the warnings, but may discontinue them.
