LOS ANGELES (AP) – Brett Anderson posted his first victory with the Los Angeles Dodgers, Scott Van Slyke hit a two-run double, and the two-time defending NL West champions completed a three-game sweep of the Seattle Mariners with a 5-2 victory last night. Anderson (1-0) allowed two runs – one earned – and six hits over five innings and struck out three in the annual Civil Rights Game, which included a pregame ceremony celebrating the 68th anniversary of Jackie Robinson’s major league debut.

LOS ANGELES (AP) – Nelson Cruz has homered in a career-best fifth straight game for the Seattle Mariners. Cruz, who signed a four-year, $47 million, contract with the Mariners in December after hitting a career-high 40 homers last season for Baltimore, drove a 1-1 pitch from Brett Anderson to right-center field in the fourth inning of last night’s game against the Dodgers.

DALLAS (AP) – Tyson Chandler had 22 points and 15 rebounds and the Dallas Mavericks beat the Portland Trail Blazers 114-98 last night while learning they will play Houston in the first round of the playoffs. The Mavericks (50-32) have been locked into the seventh seed in the Western Conference for a week.

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) – Defenseman Kris Russell scored with just under 30 seconds remaining in the third period, lifting the Calgary Flames to a 2-1 win over the Vancouver Canucks in Game 1 of their first-round playoff series last night. David Jones also scored for the Flames, who were down 1-0 entering the third period. Vancouver hosts Game 2 tomorrow night.
