EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – Lane Community College says there two people in an SUV that was briefly lifted into the air when a small tornado touched down in a parking lot of the school’s main campus in Eugene. A campus security officer told school officials the Jeep Cherokee landed on its tires yesterday afternoon and the man and woman inside were unhurt.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Police responding to reports of gunfire early yesterday found a man dead in a residential parking lot in northeast Portland. Sgt. Pete Simpson says no arrest has been made. The victim was identified as D’Andre Dickerson. His last known address is in Seattle and it is not known why he was in Portland.

CARBONDALE, Ill. (AP) – Southern Illinois University has narrowed its search for the school’s new chancellor to four finalists. One of them is Provost Sabah Randhawa of Oregon State University. All four of them are expected to visit campus in the next few weeks.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Portland Trail Blazers forward Nicolas Batum will miss tonight’s regular-season finale against the Mavericks in Dallas. Batum hurt his knee in Portland’s loss to Oklahoma City Monday night. The Blazers have already clinched the Northwest Division title and a spot in the playoffs.
