LOS ANGELES (AP) – Howie Kendrick had a game-winning two-run single in the ninth against Seattle closer Fernando Rodney to lead the Los Angeles Dodgers to a 6-5 victory over the Mariners last night. Rodney (0-1), who led the majors last season with 48 saves, was charged with his first blown save in three attempts.

LOS ANGELES (AP) – Seattle’s Nelson Cruz has homered for the fourth straight game to match the longest streak of his career. Cruz drove a 3-2 pitch from David Huff over the glove of a leaping Carl Crawford at the left-field fence in the first inning of last night’s game at Dodger Stadium. The previous night, Cruz homered in his first two plate appearances against Brandon McCarthy before the Mariners lost 6-5 in 10 innings.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) – Colorado third baseman Nolan Arenado made a sensational falling catch over the tarp in foul territory, Corey Dickerson had an RBI single among his three hits and the Rockies established their best road start in franchise history with a 4-1 win against the San Francisco Giants last night. Scott Oberg (1-0) pitched the fifth for the win in his major league debut.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Portland Trail Blazers forward Nicolas Batum has a right knee contusion and will miss tonight’s regular-season finale against the Mavericks in Dallas. Batum injured his knee in the second quarter of Portland’s 101-90 loss to Oklahoma City on Monday. X-rays following the game were negative and an MRI ruled out a serious injury.
