Athlete of the Week

Mapleton track and field standout Jacob Pruett is Coast Radio Sports’ Athlete of the Week. The Sailor 12th grader won two events at last week’s Aaron and Marie Jones Invitational at McKenzie, both with personal records. Pruett won the shot put with a throw of 40-feet-six-inches; and the javelin with a toss of 142-feet-one-inch.

Honorable mention is given to Mapleton junior Trevver D’Auteuil (doe-TAY) who won the discus at the Jones Invitational with a personal best throw of 101-feet-2-inches.

On the schedule today…

Far West League baseball and softball are scheduled to get underway for the Siuslaw Vikings against the South Umpqua Lancers. Softball will be in Myrtle Creek; Baseball will also be played in Myrtle Creek as the field conditions in Florence are unplayable.  Both games begin at five; baseball will air on Coast Radio Sports with the pregame show at 4:45.

College baseball…

Oregon State and the Portland Pilots will meet in Keizer at Volcano Stadium.

On the track…

Siuslaw will be in Coos Bay for a Far West League meet at Marshfield High School.
