Here is the latest Washington, Oregon and Alaska sports news from The Associated Press

SEATTLE (AP) – Albert Pujols hit his 521st home run to move into 18th place on baseball’s career list and the Los Angeles Angels held on for a 5-3 victory over the Seattle Mariners yesterday. Pujols’ home run, a two-run shot off Hisashi Iwakuma (0-1) in the first inning, tied him with Hall of Famers Ted Williams, Willie McCovey and Frank Thomas.

PHOENIX (AP) – Chris Heston pitched six effective innings in a combined five-hitter for his first big league win, Casey McGehee hit a two-run homer and the San Francisco Giants beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 5-2 last night. Heston (1-0) had a wild pitch and a throwing error that led to Arizona’s runs, but shook off both to win in his second big league start.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – LaMarcus Aldridge had 24 points and 13 rebounds before sitting out the fourth quarter, and the Portland Trail Blazers beat the Minnesota Timberwolves 116-91 last night. Robin Lopez added 18 points for the Blazers, who have already captured the Northwest Division title but continue to battle for home-court advantage in the playoffs with four games left.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) – Louisville coach Rick Pitino has announced that freshman forward Shaqquan Aaron will transfer. Aaron averaged 1.3 points in 23 games for the Cardinals, highlighted by an 11-point, five-rebound effort at Wake Forest in January. The 6-foot-7 Seattle native missed the season’s first nine games while the NCAA determined his amateur status.
