SEATTLE (AP) – Offensive lineman Stephen Schilling intends to retire from the NFL despite an offer to play another season for the Seattle Seahawks. Seattle was hopeful of bringing Schilling back for a second season. He started three games and appeared in eight total games this past season for the Seahawks before suffering a knee injury that landed him on injured reserve.

SEATTLE (AP) – Potential first-round picks Marcus Peters and Danny Shelton, along with fellow former Washington stars Shaq Thompson and Hau’oli Kikaha were the standouts as the Huskies held their annual pro day. Peters’ return to the school for the event was noteworthy after he was dismissed from the Huskies program last fall. The standout cornerback was welcomed back to work out for NFL scouts and was among the most impressive players on the field with his footwork and ball skills.

PEORIA, Ariz. (AP) – The Seattle Mariners brought back left-handed reliever Joe Beimel on a minor-league deal and optioned newly acquired left-hander Mike Montgomery to Triple-A Tacoma. Beimel had been with the Rangers during spring training but struggled, giving up 11 earned runs in three innings over four appearances. He was released by the Rangers on March 23.

SEATTLE (AP) – Kenny Cooper has been waived by the Seattle Sounders after the team was unable to find a trade market for the forward. General manager Garth Lagerway told reporters that Cooper’s contract didn’t fit in Seattle’s framework and there was no trade market available.
