SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) – The family of Brittany Maynard today will release a new video recorded before her death, testifying in support of California’s proposed aid-in-dying legislation. Maynard was a 29-year-old California woman with brain cancer who moved to Oregon to legally end her life with the help of doctors. Her husband and her mother plan to join California lawmakers today to release her recorded testimony in support of a to allow terminally ill patients to kill themselves in California with drugs and dosages recommended by a doctor.

HILLSBORO, Ore. (AP) – Oregon jurors have convicted a man of murder in a case in which the defendant’s father was jailed for 2½ years so he couldn’t avoid taking the witness stand in his son’s trial. The Oregonian reports that Washington County jurors took about nine hours to decide Eloy Vasquez-Santiago was guilty of killing the woman who vanished after their date. A judge in Hillsboro read the verdict yesterday afternoon.

FLORENCE, Ore. (AP) – Oregon officials have announced the reopening of recreational and commercial razor clam harvesting on a section of the central coast. Clamming is reopening from the south jetty at the mouth of the Siuslaw River at Florence north to Heceta (He-SEE-tuh) Head. The area has been closed since last August due to elevated levels of a shellfish toxin. Recent shellfish sampling indicates toxin levels have dropped.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Stephen Curry had 33 points and 10 assists and the Golden State Warriors pulled away from the shorthanded Trail Blazers in the second half for a 122-108 victory last night in Portland. Damian Lillard had 29 points for the Blazers, who have lost five straight following a 1-4 road trip.
