Here is the latest Washington, Oregon and Alaska sports news from The Associated Press

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) – Eighth-seeded Oregon and No. 9 seed Oklahoma State have plenty in common heading into their NCAA Tournament opener in the West Region tonight. Start with the fact that the schools played each other in the tournament just two years ago, back when the Cowboys were a fifth seed and the 12th-seeded Ducks pulled the upset. The winner of their game gets top-seeded Wisconsin or No. 16 seed Coastal Carolina.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – D’Vauntes Smith-Rivera scored 25 points, Mikael Hopkins had 10 points and nine rebounds, and fourth-seeded Georgetown avoided another NCAA Tournament upset by beating No. 13 seed Eastern Washington 84-74 last night. National-scoring leader Tyler Harvey finished with 27 points.

SEATTLE (AP) – The second-seeded Gonzaga Bulldogs are making their 17th straight appearance in the tournament, with their first game today against No. 15 North Dakota State. The bigger goal for the West Coast Conference champs is to advance to the second weekend, something they haven’t done since 2009.

RENTON, Wash. (AP) – Free agent defensive tackle Ahtyba Rubin has agreed to the terms of a deal with the Seattle Seahawks, bolstering their defensive front. Rubin has been a full-time starter for most of his seven-year career, all of it spent with the Cleveland Browns. The Seahawks have been seeking depth on the defensive line because of the uncertainty of Kevin Williams’ return.
