PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – The Oregon Department of Justice is delaying the release of former Gov. John Kitzhaber’s emails to a federal grand jury. Attorney General Ellen Rosenblum’s office agreed last month not to release Kitzhaber’s emails if his lawyer filed a motion to block a federal subpoena. Rosenblum’s office tells The Oregonian that the motion has been filed. Emails from Kitzhaber’s personal and professional accounts were archived on state servers. A spokeswoman for Rosenblum tells The Associated Press that other documents have been provided in response to the subpoena.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Police say a Portland man who fled after he cut off his ankle monitoring bracelet has been caught by Canadian Border Patrol agents. The Oregonian reports that 26-year-old Jemaell Riley is accused of being involved in the shooting of a police officer and police dog last year. Riley’s trial is scheduled for mid-April.

THE DALLES, Ore. (AP) – Authorities in The Dalles say a man who was being evicted in foreclosure proceedings committed suicide by inhaling smoke from the house fire he’d set. The man has been identified as 59-year-old William Rengigas (ren-GEE-uhs). Acquaintances said he feared foreclosure and worried over the fate of his dogs.

GRESHAM, Ore. (AP) – Gresham police say a couple, both in their late 80s, have died in a murder and suicide. The police said one of their adult children discovered the bodies on Wednesday. The names of the two people were not immediately made public.
