KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. (AP) – Klamath County has declared a drought for the fourth straight year. The Herald and News newspaper reports county commissioners have declared this year’s drought qualifies as extreme, compared to just severe last year. Commissioner Jim Bellet says rainfall has been normal this year, but the mountain snowpack is extremely low.

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – Health officials are investigating a possible sixth case of meningococcal disease at the University of Oregon. School spokeswoman Jen McCulley says the case involves a 20-year-old male student who lives off campus. The Register-Guard newspaper reports that the student is helping public health authorities identify close contacts who should be notified.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Portland police say a 52-year-old homeless man was stabbed in an attack last night on one of the city’s bridges over the Willamette River. Sgt. Pete Simpson says witnesses described a group of five male “street kids” as being involved in the attack at the west end of the Hawthorne Bridge. They ran away.

MIAMI (AP) – Dwyane Wade scored 15 of his 32 points in the fourth quarter, including a jumper with 13.6 seconds left to break a tie and help the Miami Heat beat the Portland Trail Blazers 108-104 last night. LaMarcus Aldridge led Portland with 34 points and 12 rebounds.
