MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) – A 19-hour police standoff in the southern Oregon community of Medford has ended with officers fatally shooting a man they say fired at them from a house. Seven Medford officers have been placed on paid administrative leave while the shooting is investigated.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Attorneys made their opening statements in the trial of a man charged with killing a Hillsboro mother of six in August 2012. Eloy Vasquez-Santiago’s case has garnered extra media attention because his father has been held in jail as a material witness for more than 900 days and his brother was held for more than 700 days before giving a video deposition. Police have not found the body of Maria Bolanos-Rivera.

MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) – Police in Medford say an 83-year-old man who reportedly left home on Sunday to search for pine cones has been found dead, with his dog still by his side.
