PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Heavy rainfall has caused sewage to overflow into the Willamette River over the weekend. The Bureau of Environmental Services says people should avoid jet skiing and swimming near the Sellwood Bridge and Kelley Point Park where the Willamette and Columbia rivers meet. The Oregonian reports rainfall records were set in Portland, Hillsboro, McMinnville, Salem, Troutdale and Vancouver on Saturday.

WARM SPRINGS, Ore. (AP) – The Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs is asking federal regulators to investigate alleged financial mismanagement within its tribal government. Warm Springs’ secretary-treasurer Jake Suppah told the Bend Bulletin that the tribes have overspent more than $100 million over the past 10 years, putting them at risk of bankruptcy.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Long-time Oregon political leader Gretchen Kafoury has died at the age of 72. Kafoury served on the Portland City Council, the Multnomah County Commission and in the Oregon Legislature. Her daughter Deborah Kafoury is the current chair of the Multnomah County commission. The Oregonian reports she died Friday. The cause of death was not known.

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) – The No. 8 seed Oregon Ducks open the NCAA Tournament against No. 9 seed Oklahoma State on Friday in a matchup of teams heading in opposite directions. Led by league Player of the Year Joseph Young, the Ducks burnished their NCAA credentials with a strong finish to the regular season, including wins over Colorado and Utah in the Pac-12 Tournament.
