PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Oregon state regulators have fined the city of Portland $25,000 for illegally dumping chlorinated wastewater into the Columbia Slough last October. The state DEQ says the fine is related to a 300,000-gallon discharge of chlorinated wastewater into the slow-moving slough. The Oregonian reports that city says the chlorination discharge occurred because of a faulty valve at the plant.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A teenager who says she was sexually abused by a teacher seeks millions of dollars in a lawsuit against the school near Salem that employed him. The lawsuit says Western Mennonite School ignored red flags when it hired Matthew Yoder and then kept him despite concerns about his behavior with students. Yoder pleaded guilty last year to sexual abuse and was sentenced to prison.

MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) – The leader of Oregon helicopter and aviation company Erickson is leaving after an expansion, debt struggles and low share prices. The Medford Mail Tribune reported Tuesday that Udo Rieder will be succeeded April 1 by Jeff Roberts, who will be president and CEO. In February, Erickson laid off 150 employees, most in Southern Oregon.

SEATTLE (AP) – Northwest residents may think spring has arrived early as sunshine and high temperatures nearing 60 are forecast through the weekend. Forecasters say highs will be above normal. Nighttime lows east of the Cascades will be in the 30s or below freezing in places.
