EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – The legal problems are not over for an 82-year-old Florence man who was convicted of firing shotgun rounds at a boat last summer. The Register-Guard newspaper reports two fishermen have filed a $200,000 civil lawsuit against Elden Nordahl. Nordahl was convicted of criminal mischief and unlawful use of a weapon after authorities say he shot the boat after the fishermen made an emergency stop at a dock attached to his property.

HILLSBORO, Ore. (AP) – Police have arrested a driver from Washington state on an unrelated charge after her car struck and killed a pedestrian in Hillsboro. Investigators say Beatriz Rivera of Issaquah remained at the scene after the accident about 1:30 a.m. yesterday. Officers found a 51-year-old man dead in Southwest Tualatin Valley Highway.

MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) – The snow level at Crater Lake National Park was at a record low for this time of year. Park Ranger Dave Grimes tells the Mail Tribune that the official snow depth at park headquarters was 28 inches Thursday. The previous record low was 31 inches in 1977. Records show the average snow depth for Feb. 26 is 110 inches. The National Weather Service forecasts a chance of snow through tonight.

ROSEBURG, Ore. (AP) – Police arrested a suspect in an arson fire that damaged storage units in Roseburg. The Roseburg News-Review reports 27-year-old Donald Owen Valdez was arrested on suspicion of arson, criminal mischief, burglary and possession of burglar tools. The fire at Diamond Lake Mini Storage happened a week ago. There were no injuries.
