Here is the latest Oregon news from The Associated Press

SALEM, Ore. (AP) – An Oregon gay rights group is asking the state Legislature to outlaw therapy that seeks to change the sexual orientation or gender identity of young people. The measure is part of a national push to prevent mental health care providers from practicing so-called conversion therapy. A dozen other states are pushing for similar legislation, which already exists in New Jersey, California and Washington, D.C.

SALEM, Ore. (AP) – A state agency has asked the Oregon State Police to investigate the disclosure of some of former Gov. John Kitzhaber’s personal emails to a reporter. The director of the Department of Administrative Services notified staff at the state data center of the investigation last week. Two data center workers have also been placed on paid leave pending an internal investigation.

WEST LINN, Ore. (AP) – The Washington State Patrol says two teens on their way to a hike with some friends in the Columbia River Gorge died after their vehicle was rear-ended by a Jeep with a large after-market bumper. The Oregonian reports the crash killed West Linn High School juniors Cooper Hill and Antonio Caballero. A Washington State Patrol Trooper said the Jeep driver was cited for negligent driving.

CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) – Oregon State is making headway with parking changes that were supposed to help ease tension between the growing university and the residential neighborhoods around it. Parking used to be a matter of a flat annual fee wherever you parked. It now costs $95 a year on the fringe of campus, near Reser Stadium – but as much as $495 near the center.
