SALEM, Ore. (AP) – Police have arrested a man who led them on a car chase after fleeing a hospital. KPTV reports that 24-year-old Kao Nai Saechao fled Salem Hospital and led police on a car chase Saturday. Police say he left the hospital against the advice of doctors, and hospital staff called the police when they watched Saechao get into a car and drive away.

BEND, Ore. (AP) – A segment of the Pilot Butte Canal has been recommended for listing on the National Register of Historic Places, a move that could affect a proposed piping project. The nomination includes 17 acres of surrounding land that would become a historic district if the National Park Service supports the listing. The Central Oregon Irrigation District wants to enclose and pipe much of that segment.

MILLERSBURG, Ore. (AP) – It is election time in tiny Millersburg, but there’s just one question on the ballot. The Albany Democrat-Herald reports that residents are being asked whether to require a public vote before the City Council can approve large amounts of debt. The measure is related to the issue of whether the city should form a municipal utility district.

KALAMA, Wash. (AP) – The Cowlitz County Sheriff’s Office says a man killed by a train south of Kalama was posing for a photograph. The Daily News of Longview reports that the man had been driving from Tacoma to Portland on Saturday morning when he and his female traveling companion stopped to take pictures. Investigators say he apparently did not see an Amtrak passenger train.
