SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) – Kyle Wiltjer scored 21 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as No. 3 Gonzaga routed Loyola Marymount 80-51 last night. Przemek Karnowski and Byron Wesley each scored 11 points for Gonzaga, which has won 18 consecutive games. The Zags scored the first 20 points of the game. Gonzaga, whose only loss this season was at No. 7 Arizona, has won 39 consecutive home games.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Alec Wintering scored 15 points and dished out six assists, and each Portland starter reached double figures in a 69-52 victory over Pepperdine last night. Kevin Bailey scored 15 points, Thomas van der Mars had 12, and Volodymyr Gerun and Bryce Pressley chipped in 10 apiece for Portland, which shot 51 percent from the floor.

SEATTLE (AP) – A person familiar with the negotiations says Rickie Weeks and the Seattle Mariners have agreed to a $2 million, one-year contract. The person spoke to The Associated Press yesterday on the condition of anonymity because the deal is pending a physical. Weeks can earn another $2 million in performance bonuses plus additional award bonuses.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) – The New England mayor who won a bet over the Super Bowl is showing off the spoils he received from his counterpart in Seattle. Providence Mayor Jorge Elorza yesterday opened the package he received from Seattle Mayor Ed Murray after the New England Patriots beat the Seattle Seahawks. Murray sent some Seattle favorites to Elorza, including Northwest alder-smoked salmon and whole bean coffees from the original Starbucks.
