Here is the latest Oregon news from The Associated Press

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Portland is deciding whether to fully rejoin the FBI-led Joint Terrorism Task Force after dropping out a decade ago. U.S. Attorney Amanda Marshall told the City Council last night the move would help keep the city safe. Portland left after federal officials refused to grant top-secret clearance to then-Mayor Tom Potter. Potter said he had to ensure that city officers obey Oregon laws barring police from investigating people because of their religious or political ties.

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – A third University of Oregon student may have a potentially deadly blood infection. Health officials in Lane County say the student lived in the same dorm as one of the students already confirmed to have the bacterial infection that causes meningitis. The Register-Guard reports that university sent a text message to 1,200 students advising them they may have been exposed.

SALEM, Ore. (AP) – The state parole board has decided not to release a man convicted of killing a police officer in John Day in 1992. The Oregonian reports the decision was reached yesterday in the case of Sidney Dean Porter. Porter was convicted of killing Officer Frank Ward during a domestic violence call. The decision means his next possible release date is in 2020.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – LaMarcus Aldridge had 19 points and 13 rebounds for his team-record 220th double-double, and the Portland Trail Blazers beat the Phoenix Suns 108-87 last night. Nicolas Batum scored 20 points and Robin Lopez had 11 points and 12 rebounds for the Blazers, who won their second straight after a three-game skid.
