Here is the latest Washington, Oregon and Alaska sports news from The Associated Press

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – Joseph Young scored 32 points to surpass 2,000 for his four-year career and lead Oregon to a 78-74 over Washington last night. Young, who scored 916 points in his first two seasons at Houston, floated in a driving shot with 23.8 seconds left for the winning points. Young, who now has 2,002 points, is the fifth active NCAA Division I player to reach the milestone.

RENTON, Wash. (AP) – Seattle Seahawks strong safety Kam Chancellor played in the Super Bowl with a torn medial collateral ligament in his left knee, according to the team’s website. Chancellor had 10 tackles and was in for every defensive play of the game despite the injury.

SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) – Washington State coach Mike Leach signed a quarterback and three wide receivers for his Air Raid offense yesterday, but wanted to highlight some other players in his latest recruiting class. Leach says he believes this class is strong in the offensive and defensive lines and the defensive backs. Of the 23 players signed by Leach, 17 were from California, two from American Samoa, and one each from Washington, Arizona, Maryland and Utah.

SEATTLE (AP) – Washington coach Chris Petersen believes he found something special in quarterback Jake Browning. So the last thing Petersen wants is additional expectations heaped on the national record holder for career touchdown passes. Yet even Petersen had to admit on yesterday’s national letter of intent day that Browning has some of the same characteristics Petersen saw in Kellen Moore at Boise State. Browning was at the top of Washington’s recruiting class of 24 players.
