Here is the latest Oregon news from The Associated Press

COOS BAY, Ore. (AP) – Skeptics say the collapse in oil prices and its impact on natural gas production from American shale deposits could mean trouble for the proposed Jordan Cove liquefied natural gas plant at Coos Bay. The World newspaper reports on a debate over estimates of whether there will be enough U.S. gas to supply domestic needs as well as export demand. Federal government estimates say domestic production can meet both kinds of demand at least through 2040. Other studies, such as one at the University of Texas, suggest production will fall after this decade.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – The AAA auto club reports the average price of a gallon of gasoline in Oregon is $2.13. That’s down a cent in a week and 34 cents lower than a month ago. It’s 6 cents higher than the national average. The AAA reports the national average of $2.07 is up 3 cents from a week ago. Some metro figures from AAA’s yesterday survey: Portland $2.11, Salem $2.09, Eugene-Springfield $2.15, Medford-Ashland $2.14.

MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) – Jackson County may compensate ranchers for livestock killed by wolves. The county would need to set up a wolf depredation committee to qualify for state grants. The Mail Tribune reports 11 Oregon counties already have such committees and Jackson would be the first on the west side of the Cascades. Jackson County commissioners are discussing wolf kills at tomorrow’s meeting in Medford.

TIGARD, Ore. (AP) – Police in the Portland suburb of Tigard (TYE-gard) say a homeless woman climbed inside a drive-thru window at a Burgerville fast-food restaurant early yesterday to cook herself a spicy bean burger. Police spokesman Jim Wolf says her plans were interrupted when an employee showed up for work about 4:30 a.m. The employee backed outside and called police. Wolf says officers found the woman wearing a Burgerville apron and plastic gloves while she cooked.
